Although the Destiny 2 PvP community is expanding, this part of the game has been neglected for quite some time. But this time, as part of Season 17 events, Destiny 2 will get a Major Iron Banner rework, and the modifications that are being implemented are substantial. The removal of power level scaling is one example among many. Another notable change is the reintroduction of the classic Rift game mode, in which Guardians engage in superpowered rugby to score points against one another.

When will Destiny 2 Season 17 Begin?

On May 24, Season 17 will begin. There will be a few hours of downtime before you may log in and play as with all seasonal adjustments. If you need a reminder, the reset hour is 10 am PT/1 pm ET/6 pm BST/7 pm CEST.

Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris Changes in Season 17

The Iron Banner is getting a substantial overhaul. It will be very similar to how Destiny 2 recently reworked Trials of Osiris. By playing the PvP mode and completing its challenges, players will earn unique Iron Banner engrams that may be opened for a random loot drop or concentrated into a certain previously unlocked item. Bungie also mentioned the existence of special Iron Banner cosmetics as part of the prize track, as well as the potential return of legacy Iron Banner items in the future.

The game’s token economy will be replaced with a ranking system in Iron Banner, similar to Shaxx and the Crucible. Iron Engrams may be earned by ranking up, as well as unlocking new cosmetic items and resources for each match. You can convert Iron Engrams into any previously acquired Iron Banner weapon or armour set for an in-game material cost.

Some veterans of the Iron Banner may be happy to hear that Bungie is introducing a new “Iron Lord” title in Season 18, though the article makes it clear that cracking it will be one of Destiny 2’s most difficult achievements yet. According to the blog post, the new Iron Banner title is anticipated to be as challenging to acquire as the legacy “Unbroken” endgame title from Destiny 2’s early days.

Now that there’s a real new PvP map on the way for Destiny 2, it appears like Bungie is once again prioritizing the game’s PvP component. While playing through activities in Destiny is essential, some individuals felt that the many competitive game modes had been neglected for far too long up to this point, and the new changes Bungie has promised should do much to preserve them in the future.

The Trials of Osiris is getting a makeover as well, with Capture Zone and Freelance weekends continuing this season. Each season will feature seven maps in rotation, with one chosen by player votes. Finally, there will be adept reward adjustments, making the grind more rewarding.
