Netflix’s Resident Evil Teaser Trailer: Evil has Evolved

The First Resident Evil Teaser Trailer Has Been Released by Netflix

The “Resident Evil” franchise has resurrected from the dead in the first trailer for Netflix’s upcoming live-action horror drama, which will be available to stream July 14, a year after its previous live-action adaptation premiered.

“Resident Evil,” based on the long-running Capcom survival horror franchise, stars Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, one of the major antagonists in the original video game series. Tamara Smart and Ella Balinska star as young and older versions of Albert’s daughter Jade, while Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti and Turlough Convery play roles that are currently not known.

Netflix’s Resident Evil: Plot

The series’ new plot has yet to be revealed, but the teaser trailer, set to the renowned 1971 pop song “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony),” reveals that it will be divided between two time periods. In 2022, Jade travels with her father and her little sister Billy to New Raccoon City, which is a dystopian future. Jade’s life appears idyllic at first, but she gradually comes to realize that her father and the Umbrella Corporation in charge of New Raccoon City are keeping deadly secrets. In 2036, Jade treks across a post-apocalyptic London as she searches for food and fights to survive against bloodthirsty infected people who have been affected by the outbreak of Umbrella Corporation’s viral weapon.

Netflix’s Resident Evil: What We Know So Far

The series is the most recent in a long line of adaptations of Capcom’s renowned survival horror franchise. Previously, the franchise served as the basis for six feature films directed by Paul W. S. Anderson from 2002 to 2016. The series followed Milla Jovovich as Alice and featured several characters from the original games, but it did not follow the plots. Last year saw the release of a reboot featuring Kaya Scodelario and Tom Hopper, entitled “Welcome to Raccoon City.” In addition, three Japanese anime films were created as part of this franchise, along with a Netflix CGI miniseries called “Infinite Darkness,” which premiered last year.

Andrew Dabb, who is best recognized for his work on the popular CW series “Supernatural,” serves as executive producer and writer on the Netflix program. He collaborates with Mary Leah Sutton on the project. Constantin Film produced the series, with Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben serving as executive producers for the studio.

In 1996, Japanese director Shinji Mikami and producer Tokuro Fujiwara released the original PlayStation video game in the Resident Evil franchise, which follows a rotating cast of heroes as they seek out Umbrella Corporation wrongdoing. The series has produced 13 mainline games with several spin-offs since then, becoming one of the world’s most successful game franchises with over 120 million copies sold worldwide. Last year’s “Resident Evil Village” was well received by critics.

The full eight episodes of “Resident Evil” will premiere on Netflix on July 14.
