Apple introduced a Self-Service Repair program for iPhone 12 and 13 series, as well as the more recent iPhone SE 2022, last year. The service is now available in the United States, allowing users to make repairs on their phones from the convenience of their own homes.

Customers can buy replacement parts from the Apple Self Service Repair Shop and send in their old ones for store credit. There’s even a choice to rent out repair tools for $49 per week, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing specific equipment when you fix your phone.

Batteries, speakers, camera modules, SIM trays, and Taptic engines are just a few of the items on display at the Self-Service Repair Shop. There are also a variety of miscellaneous spare parts like bolts and screws. The cost of replacement displays ranges from $100 to more than $300. (The display, screw kit, adhesive, and security screws are included with the iPhone 13 display bundle (includes the display, screw kit, adhesive, and security screws). A spare battery-package costs $70.99.) You’ll get $33.60 in store credit for returning your old screen; an old battery will earn you $24.15 in-store credit.

Customers who are familiar with the complexity of repairing electronic gadgets will be able to complete repairs on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups as well as the iPhone SE (3rd generation) thanks to the new online shop’s more than 200 distinct components and tools. This program will also include manuals, parts, and tools for Mac computers with Apple silicon in later this year.

Apple notes that Self Service Repair is “designed for individuals who are familiar with the intricacies of repairing electronics.” Apple also specifies that, although using parts from the Self Service Repair program to repair your phone will not void your warranty, any hardware damage incurred throughout the repair process will not be covered. To complete the repair procedure, system configuration software is necessary. Users must contact the Self Service Repair Store support by phone or via online chat to start System Configuration software in order to finish the job.

According to the company, its Self Repair initiative will eventually reach all of Apple’s silicon Macs in Europe, with the continent mentioned specifically for later this year.
