Apple Studio Display’s power cord is detachable but it requires a unique tool

Apple Studio Display’s power cord is detachable there's a catch

Apple Studio Display is now available in stores. Many people all over the world have already obtained this product. It has a unique power connector that seems to be non-removable. However, it turns out that the cable is detachable. The problem is that you need a special tool to remove it.

The power cable of the Studio Display, according to Apple, is not detachable – and many people have agreed. It is hard to remove the cable from the display if you do it with your bare hands. But luckily, the cable can be detached from the display.

Apple has a unique tool for removing the power cable from its new Studio Display, as demonstrated by @StellaFudge on Twitter. The power cable can simply be disconnected from the display with the cord wrapped around the tool that acts as a handle. Unfortunately, this is an internal tool designed for Apple technicians that isn’t available for sale anywhere.

Even if you have a tool like this, it may not be as helpful in your own home. Because of its tiny design and perhaps because of the fact that it is proprietary, the Studio Display includes a unique power connection that prevents you from obtaining a replacement cable from elsewhere. The positive news is that Apple can only replace the cable instead of the complete display, which should reduce out-of-warranty repair costs.

Information on Apple’s repair services for the new Studio Display is unavailable. However, you may get a $149 AppleCare+ plan for it that covers damage and extends the warranty by one year.

It’s worth noting that some consumers have removed the power cable from the Apple Studio Display on their own, but this can cause damage to the device and should be avoided.

The upgraded Studio Display model is now available for purchase, starting at $1,599 per configuration.
