The latest feature to the 1Password password manager provides support for a type of online login that doesn’t require passwords: “sign in with” options from companies like Apple, Facebook, and Google.

Now you no longer need to remember whether you log in to e.g., Reddit with your Google or Apple account, because 1Password will do it for you. Users can use the new extension to remember, save, and autofill logins using third-party provider credentials from Google, Apple, Meta Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, etc. This avoids the requirement for separate usernames and passwords. Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge browsers, are all supported at release.

For Apple Safari browser the 1Password extension may paste but not copy, due to the Apple’s WebKit framework under Apple’s regulations.

These authentication solutions, often known as social logins or single-sign-on (SSO), free users of the need to generate and remember another password and can provide a security boost over a site’s own login system.

“Logging in should be effortless, be it with a traditional username and password, a Google or Apple account, or passkeys,” Said Steve Won, chief product officer of 1Password.

“While single sign-on is helpful in reducing the number of passwords needed, it’s still a hassle for people to keep tabs on which third-party provider was used. Our new browser extension feature alleviates this by allowing users to sign in to their favorite apps and websites with one click.”, he continued.

For the time being, 1Password can save login information for multiple accounts associated with the same company that are linked to the same app. You may, for example, select which Gmail account you want to use to sign in to Zoom, even for multiple linked Gmail accounts

The new browser extensions from 1Password remove the guesswork for users, letting them instantly login into accounts with the touch of a button. Users may also access and change login information for third-party providers across desktop as well as mobile apps.

1Password Users on Individual or Family subscriptions, or those with 1Password Teams and Enterprise accounts, can use the new browser extension feature.
