Elon Musk set to replace Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal

Elon Musk has not yet completed his purchase of Twitter for $44 billion, and already reports indicate that he is eager to make significant changes at the top. CEO Parag Agrawal will most likely be the first to be replaced, according to a new Reuters report, and Elon Musk has already selected someone to take his place.

Musk has already found a new Chief Executive for Twitter and will replace Agrawal after the $44 billion acquisition is completed later this year, according to sources close to the publication. Last month, Musk informed Twitter’s chairman Bret Taylor that he did not have faith in the company’s management, implying that management levels may be altered.

Elon Musk didn’t name a replacement for Chief Executive Officer Parag Agrawal, who took over in November replacing Jack Dorsey. Musk informed investors that he would not disclose the identity of the new CEO until after Tesla’s sale to him was completed.

Also, if the project goes through, Agrawal will get a $42 million payout if his contract is terminated within 12 months of becoming Twitter CEO.

Twitter Employees Enraged and Worried

Since Musk acquired Twitter, workers have been asking Agrawal if their position is secure and whether they should look for other opportunities.

According to a Reuters report, however, Parag Agrawal sought to calm staff outrage during a company-wide meeting where workers pressed for answers on how executives planned to manage an expected mass departure as a result of Elon Musk.

Amidst the reports of Parag Agarwal’s impending replacement as Twitter CEO following Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk’s hostile takeover, Agrawal has remained confident in his job.

According to reports, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has offered lenders a plan to restructure the board and reduce executive pay, but the precise amount of savings has yet to be determined. According to another Reuters report, Musk will not make personnel decisions until he fully controls Twitter.

Elon Musk may fire Vijaya Gadde as well

According to The New York Post, Musk is planning to fire Twitter’s legal head Vijaya Gadde as well. A report from The New York Post claims that if she were dismissed from her post, Gadde would receive a $12.5 million severance package, including Twitter shares. She currently earns around $17 million per year and is one of the company’s highest-paid executives.

The 48-year-old Gadde reportedly broke down while discussing Twitter’s future with his coworkers.

The Tesla CEO openly criticized Gadde for canceling the New York Post’s Twitter account, which published an in-depth story about Hunter Biden’s laptop during the 2020 US presidential campaign.

“Suspending the Twitter account of a major news organisation for publishing a truthful story was obviously incredibly inappropriate,” Musk Tweeted

Elon Musk tweeted a meme showing her as oblivious to Twitter’s “liberal bias,” which was taken from an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in 2019.

Dick Costolo, the former Twitter CEO, criticized Musk for posting the meme in response to online criticism directed towards Gadde.

“You’re making an executive at the company you just bought the target of harassment and threats,” Costolo tweeted. “Bullying is not leadership.” he added

Meanwhile, Musk’s followers have gone after her with racist abuse that insults her Indian heritage, incorporating phrases like “curry” and “caste.” For violating Twitter’s guidelines, the hateful tweets were later deleted.
