WhatsApp, The Popular Messaging App, Releases a Native Windows Version

WhatsApp is releasing a native Windows app, which no longer requires the old web-based backend and has been optimized to work natively on Windows.

While the user interface of the new software will not appear to have changed, the real difference may be found in how quickly it runs and how efficiently it uses resources. These apps will also allow you to continue conversations from your keyboard when your phone is offline. In May, WhatsApp also added the ability to send and receive files up to 2GB with end-to-end protection.

WhatsApp users can now link their desktop computer to the WhatsApp app, so they can continue making and receiving calls, as well as sending messages, without needing to have their smartphone close by. This is possible through WhatsApp Web via a browser or web-based WhatsApp desktop app.

WhatsApp for MacOS Still in Beta, Will be Released Soon

WhatsApp is planning to release a native MacOS app, which is still under development. The closed beta of the MacOS app is being tested and will probably be released as an iPhone WhatsApp app that can also run on Apple laptops. According to 9to5Mac, the early beta of the new WhatsApp desktop app runs much faster than the current version does.

The new WhatsApp desktop app works on any platform, but you’ll need to link it to a smartphone account that’s connected to a phone number. You’ll be able to communicate and make WhatsApp calls with end-to-end encryption on each linked device after they’re linked. You may connect up to four devices while your phone is turned off, but if you haven’t used your phone in 14 days, connected devices will be instantly logged out.
