What We Know About Pokemon GO’s April Fools’ Event

Niantic has revealed that there will be several exciting new events in the Pokemon GO update, which is set to go live soon. April Fools’ 2-Oh?-22 event, of course, arrives on April Fools’ Day.

The event will last 10 hours. It will start at 10 a.m. and end at 8 p.m. local time. Players will have 10 hours to enjoy the event and its surprises. Although many details are being kept secret, there is still much to look forward to.

Pokemon GO’s Event named April Fools’ 2-Oh?-22

April Fools’ Day is a day for jokes and pranks, but Niantic always finds time to produce special events around significant holidays.

The previous April Fools’ prank was the Pokemon GO Tricky April Fools’ event. Aipom and Croagunk are two Pokemon recognized for their deviousness, which is why this event focused on them.

However, the highlight of the event was Ditto, the popular Normal-type Pokemon known for its signature move Transform.

The April Fools’ 2-Oh-22 is now available to Pokémon Go players across the world, with a particular emphasis on Ditto this year. The event’s name is a hint – those who are fooled by a Ditto will receive an enigmatic message reading “Oh?” This is alluded to in the event title: April Fools’ 2-Oh?-22 event.

Ditto is a one-of-a-kind Pokemon, because it will never appear on the overworld as itself. Instead, it disguises itself as another Pokemon. After you’ve caught it, you’ll realize that it’s a Ditto.

Ditto is a rare spawn, but it’s very probable that it will be more common throughout the event. Don’t pass up your chance to obtain or catch this elusive creature if you haven’t already done so!

While it’s possible the event will alter this, Ditto may now disguise itself as the following Pokemon: Foongus, Drowzee, Teddiursa, Gastly, Remoraid, Gulpin, Numel, Stunky, Dwebble.

Last year, Team GO Rocket was a popular topic. This allowed trainers to fight Giovanni and get a unique Shadow Zapdos. This pokemon is rarely seen.

However, it seems unlikely that Team GO Rocket will appear during this April Fool’s Day because the All-Hands Rocket Retreat event is taking place on April 3rd.. But be careful, because Pokemon GO is known for being tricky. Keep your eyes peeled in case they show up!

Special Research?

A new event is going to begin, and it’s called the Special Research. It entails completing a small set of Special Research centered on Ditto and Normal-type Pokémon. It shouldn’t take you long to finish, so here are all of the research activities and rewards you’ll receive as part of the event.

1st – April Fools’ 2-Oh-22

• Catch 10 Pokémon
  • 25 Poké Balls
• Catch five Normal-type Pokémon
  • Five Potions
• Make five nice Throws
  • Five Nanab Berries

Total Rewards: 1,000 Stardust, 15 Ditto Candy, and five Razz Berries

2nd – April Fools’ 2-Oh-22

• Catch 10 Pokémon
  • 15 Great Balls
• Catch three of the Transform Pokémon
  • Five Super Potions
• Transfer 10 Pokémon
  • Five Pinap Berries

Total Rewards: 1,500 XP, 15 Ditto Candy, and one Silver Pinap Berry

A Silly Photobomb, maybe?

A photobomb element is one of the most popular features of Pokemon GO events. If you take a photo of one of your Pokemon, a wild Pokemon may photobomb it, giving you the opportunity to capture it.

The event was first revealed as a way for trainers to catch Smeargle. However, the Pokemon that appears is typically tied to certain occasions, such as Squirtle appearing during last year’s Ed Sheeran event or Sandshrew turning up on March 2022 Community Day. Datamining has revealed that Professor Willow has been added to the game’s code as a photobomb. This is the first time a person rather than a Pokemon has been photobombed!

We can’t wait for April Fools’ tomorrow. With several new Pokemon to collect in April and events to enjoy, it’s sure to be an exciting month for Pokemon GO.
