Spotify users around the world are currently experiencing an ongoing outage

On Thursday, nearly 3000 Spotify users reported that the music streaming platform was not accessible, as per the data from Downdetector.com. Spotify users were unable to access their playlists due to an outage on the music streaming service. The company acknowledged the issue and stated that they were investigating the cause. After approximately an hour, Spotify informed customers that the service had been restored and they should be able to access it again.

Many Spotify users around the world are currently experiencing an ongoing outage. The issue began around 10 am PT, and Spotify has yet to acknowledge the problem or provide an estimated time for resolution.

The data from Downdetector shows that the outage is widespread, but not affecting everyone. Users are reporting they are unable to load the app or stream any content, including music, audiobooks, and podcasts. The desktop version of the app is showing a “firewall” error message, while the mobile app is displaying a “gateway” error message.

This is the second time in the past two weeks that Spotify has experienced an outage, with the previous one lasting for over two hours on January 13th. The company never publicly disclosed the cause of that incident. If you are currently having issues accessing Spotify, please share the error messages you are encountering in the comments. An update on the situation will be provided when Spotify releases an official statement.

Update: Spotify responds “Something’s not quite right, and we’re looking into it. Thanks for your reports!” on Twitter.
