Blizzard has announced that Mei will be temporarily disabled in Overwatch 2 due to reports of bugs with her Ice Wall ability. These bugs, according to the statement, have allowed players to access unintended locations. The team is working to resolve the issues and hopes to have the Arctic adventurer back in action by November 15.

Activision regards this as an exploit that compromises the competitive integrity of Overwatch 2, which is the reason Mei has been disabled for a little more than two weeks. The hero will return soon, with the hope that Blizzard has addressed every one of the quality issues that her kit has been experiencing in recent weeks.

Mei appears to be creating an exploit for other heroes in the game with her Ice Wall. It was giving them access to parts of the map they weren’t supposed to explore, giving them an unfair advantage.

Aside from pushing characters into forbidden zones, some players have mentioned Mei’s Ice Wall falling short to block attacks as well as lift team members. Running into Mei’s Ice Wall, according to Twitter user stefayylmao1, causes Kiriko to access an undetected area in which she can exploit not being hit although taking out enemies.

“We are temporarily disabling Mei to address a bug with her Ice Wall ability that allowed heroes to reach unintended locations when used with their abilities.”, Blizzard stated in a tweet. “We are working to address these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Mei back in our next upcoming patch which is set for November 15. Thank you for your understanding and patience.”

Mei is not the first Overwatch 2 character to be temporarily disabled. Torbjorn and Bastion were pulled from the game earlier this month after users reported bugs with their abilities as well. The pair, along with the Junkertown map, were brought back to the game on October 25. Blizzard’s estimated downtime for Mei coincides with the removal timeframes for Torbjorn and Bastion, giving us a decent first look over how patches as well as other adjustments will be integrated in the released recently live service game.
