Some More Info on Destiny 2’s Lightfall DLC

Destiny 2’s sequel will be set in an unusual new location for the Bungie franchise that is heavily cyberpunk at its core. The continuation of Destiny 2’s story will take place in a dystopian future environment, with the return of Calus as the primary adversary once again. In its battle to destroy the equally enigmatic Traveler, Calus has The Witness on his side.

Lightfall’s official trailer confirmed that Guardians will travel to a strange city on Neptune in order to defend the Sol system, the Last City, and most importantly, the Traveler from The Witness and his followers.

The Witness was first seen at the end of The Witch Queen, where she refers to him as “The Winnower,” a mythical figure from Destiny’s lore. The Witness is looking for what it calls “The Final Shape,” which is essentially a perfected version of the cosmos – when all of the wheat has been properly separated from the chaff.

In 2024, the first official saga of Destiny 2 will come to a close with The Final Shape expansion. Though Bungie didn’t mention anything about Lightfall’s sequel during the reveal event, it seems probable that Lightfall won’t have a good outcome for the Guardians of the Last City.

Unfortunately, we don’t know how bad things will get for Zavala and the crew just yet. However, Bungie has promised to reveal more information about Lightfall, Strand, and the franchise’s newest destination in the coming months.

The Destiny 2: Lightfall DLC Can Now be Pre-ordered through Steam and Epic Games.
