YouTube Streamer Banned from all Riot Games for misogynist conduct

Popular YouTube and Valorant Streamer Banned from all Riot Games for Sexist tirade

The video, which was shared on Twitter by Jake Lucky, the co-owner of FullSquadGaming, shows IShowSpeed, a popular YouTube Streamer and rapper, exploding in rage after being subjected to some mild feedback regarding his aim from another player. IShowSpeed refers to the female player as a “bitch” and asks, “Is a woman speaking with me?” before saying, “Get off the fucking game and do your husband’s dishes.”

“Actually unbelievable kids be looking up to this and finding it alright” – Jake Lucky

Riot Games has already banned IShowSpeed, while YouTube appears to be looking into his actions. The video piqued the interest of YouTube’s global head of game creators Lester Chen, as well as a Valorant game producer named Sara Dadafshar. In response to Lucky’s tweet calling out Speed, Dadafshar said she “went ahead and permabanned” IShowSpeed from Valorant and all other Riot games, while Chen stated he was “on it.”

It’s unclear if the streamer will appeal the ban or not. However, it’s likely that he will continue to stream other games while he’s unable to play any Riot games. This isn’t the first time he’s said terrible things to women. In one video, he appears to be posing the question “Would you reproduce with me if we were stranded on a desert island?” to a woman in a group video chat. When she replies no, he says, “Who’s going to stop me?” before screaming at her.

While in other video he says ” Fuck you, you fucking bitch” to a female player who tells him to “stop streaming.”

IShowSpeed apologized shortly after the clip and subsequent debate went viral. He acknowledged that his conduct was “inappropriate,” adding, “I’m getting a lot of racist comments today.” There is, in fact, another video in the replies to Lucky’s tweet wherein IShowSpeed asks how to heal in the game, and both his teammates replied him that “Only white characters can heal.”

Trash talk has been a part of video-game culture for almost as long as there have been multiplayer games, and the idea of trash talk has become an essential element of gaming culture for better or worse. Daniel “Keemstar” Keem defended IShowSpeed’s statements, saying “it’s trash talk, in a video game” and “they’re not real statements”. He also stated that IShowSpeed is a minor, although there is some uncertainty about his age, with reports varying between 16 and 19 years old.

Both Riot and YouTube should have acted far sooner, IShowSpeed is also engaging in this practice on a massive platform with millions of viewers, many of whom are most likely to be young. In summary, it’s a sorry state of affairs all around, and as has been the case in other situation.
