Valve’s Steam statistics page now includes real-time charts of the top-selling and most-played games at any given time. You may view the updated statistics page right here.

At the time of this article, the best-selling game is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which isn’t surprising considering that preordering the game grants users’ early access to the open beta, but the next best-selling game is Slime Rancher 2, which is surprising.

According to a Valve blog post, the top-selling reports are ranked according to total revenue, which includes DLC and in-game purchases, to present a “more complete picture of which games players are excited about getting into and continuing to play.” And Valve has included indicators such as the number of weeks here on chart and the weekly shift in rank to provide a more specific picture of how titles are trending.

The list of the most-played games is led by consistently popular free-to-play titles like CS:GO, Dota 2, as well as Apex Legends, but this chart also indicates that Cyberpunk 2077 is among the top 10, possibly due to a recent update and the Netflix anime Cyberpunk Edgerunners. The most played list can be sorted by current players, which shows you what’s being played the most right now, and daily users, which ranks games based upon top daily players.

This new analytics page is already a useful source of data and I believe it will be worth keeping a watch on, especially as the holiday buying season approaches. I also believe I’ll use it to explore game titles that a lot of individuals are interested in, such as Slime Rancher 2.
