OSU community may have provoked r/place drama by pointing the finger at itself

According to xQc, the OSU community is to blame for the r/place issue: “Invading for no reason.”

OSU community may have provoked r/place drama by pointing the finger at itself

During the stream, KotakuxQc, who is known for keeping track of the newest internet trends, visited r/place. The content creator/gamer urged his followers to literally paint their position on the map in pixel-based games.

But the conflicts related to invasions that have plagued multiple creators since r/place’s rebirth appear not to have spared him.

In the most recent stream, which was dominated by FPS pro-Peter “OpTicApocalypse” Banman played popular games like Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Valorant.

It’s clear that the variety content creator was initially quite successful in pulling it off, and even utilized an outline strategy. However, it appears that the OSU community has other ideas.

Pixel-based games thrive on interaction from the community at large, in which players collaborate to make and relive symbols or icons of their choosing.

The response from the OSU community was not adequate, and MxQc was infuriated. He said that the university’s “overwhelming” branding had infringed on his copyright.

The debate heated up before the Luminosity Gaming content creator offered two alternatives for resolving the problem: negotiate or fight it out for each pixel on the map.

The streamers and their fan base were glued to invading each other’s and other creators’ logos across the map, and fans loved it.
