We’re excited to Announce Dota 2 patch 7.31 Rise of the Skeleton Battalion

Dota 2’s beauty is that a tiny change tucked away in the patch notes might have a huge impact on the game. That’s what keeps Dota 2 so interesting! The 7.31 update of Dota 2 was released nearly a month ago, and while many secrets of the patch have not been revealed, there are a few that have emerged to the surface.

The neutral creeps in Patch 7.31 have seen a slew of changes. In the midst of all the neutral creep adjustments, one creature has suddenly had a significant role in the early game.

The first thing that comes to mind is that Dark Troll Summoner isn’t a viable neutral monster anymore because he lacks Ensnare. However, his other abilities provide him with a lot of hidden power. Skeletons raised using Raise Dead now require neither corpses nor a necromancer’s services, and the number of skeletons that can be created has been increased from two to three. The major difference between the previous model and this version is what has been adjusted in the Skeleton Warriors!

Skeletons are just as powerful as they were in the past, with their damage unchanged. However, to balance this out, the skeleton warrior has a +3 attack damage aura that stacks. But wait – it doesn’t just stack with other skeletons; it also stacks with all allies!

Because of this, the Skeleton Warrior is an incredibly savage neutral monster early on in the game. The duration of Skeleton Warriors is 40 seconds, and the cooldown is 18 seconds. With a little over 22 seconds left on the clock, it’s quite simple to have two sets of skeletons out on the field (six skeletons).Every ally gets +18 damage (+3 damage per Skeleton Warrior) in that time. Even heroes, creeps, and summoned units are affected!

Consider a creep wave (four creeps), two heroes, and a Dark Troll Summoner against the mid tower at minute 5. That’s already 234 additional damage! And yes, this only includes the bonus damage, not their standard damage. If this is done with a Broodmother or a Nature Prophet, the consequences can be much more severe.

The tier 1 towers have a hit point of 1800 and 12 armor. Because it has an HP of 3096, it is a powerful HITPOINT 3096. It will take less than 10 right clicks from the entire group to destroy a tier 1 tower, based on around 10% to 12% damage each strike. It may take two sets of Skeleton Warriors to complete the objective, but in reality, the enemy mid-tower can be destroyed within the first 10 minutes.

Why is that significant? The tier 1 mid offers a lot of map access and protection for both jungles on both sides, Radiant and Dire. Losing it early puts your side of the map at great risk, which is why you’ll often see teams bring in multiple heroes to defend the mid tower early in order to keep it standing as long as. However, it is a little too early to rotate numerous heroes to defend against the increasing damage skeletons, and more often than not, teams must give up the tower, which has a major influence on how the rest of the game is played.

The Skeleton Warriors’ power level may be increased by using specific heroes with the ability to exploit them early on in the game, such as Chen and Enchantress. Perhaps even Doom might take advantage of the aura’s new behavior. Until it does, this is a decent weapon to have on hand in order to surprise your foes early in the game.
