Remedy and 505 Games announced on Friday that Control 2 (formerly known as Codename Heron) is being co-developed and co-published and will be based on Remedy’s Northlight engine. Originally known as Codename Heron, it was considered to be a spin-off instead of a second major game.

Control 2 would be a collaboration with 505 Games (publisher of the original Control). According to series game director Mikael Kasurinen, the sequel is now in the “concept stage” and “it’ll take a while”. This means that the game has not yet begun active development and will most likely be years away. According to Remedy, the beautiful science-fiction third person shooter Control 2 will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

There isn’t much info about the game, but the developers did offer this one piece of concept art:

Along with the message of Control’s game director Mikael Kasurinen:

“With Control, we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us.

With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.”

Control, a critically acclaimed game, was released in 2019. Control has been nominated for 11 BAFTA® Games Awards and has won over 20 “Game of the Year” awards since its release.
